OHIP-Covered Medical Services
If you are a resident of Ontario, you are eligible for an OHIP health card which covers medically essential services.
Valid health cards are required for medical visits, and must be brought in at each and every visit. Without your health card, you will not be covered for your visit and will be required to pay the current uninsured medical appointment visit fee.

Physicians may bill you for uninsured services, or if you miss an appointment, or if your health card is not valid.
In addition, you may need to pay the full or partial cost of services provided by other health care professionals, such as physiotherapists and podiatrists.
Some services are covered by OHIP for certain patients, such as diabetic eye exams. Please pay attention to surplus services that are offered when you go for such visits - these are more often than not unnecessary, and will not be covered by OHIP. Remember that OHIP pays for what is required and what keeps you healthy. Getting more tests is not necessarily better, and most times of no value.
